Year 11 Trip to HOTA

Our Year 11 Visual Arts in Practice students recently had an amazing opportunity to visit Hota (Home of the Arts). During our visit, we were privileged to be given a guided tour of the gallery space by one of the resident artists. It was an invaluable experience where we gained insight into different artworks, materials, and effective methods of describing artwork.

Following the tour, we dove into a workshop where each student-curated their own exhibition from Hota's extensive artwork collection. This exercise challenged us to consider various elements such as subject matter, materials, colour scheme, and artist themes. It was truly exhilarating to witness each student's unique vision coming to life as they carefully selected and arranged artworks they believed worked together cohesively.

This hands-on experience not only deepened our understanding of art but also allowed us to express our creativity and develop critical thinking skills. The skills acquired from this workshop will be immensely beneficial as we prepare to curate our own exhibitions in the future.
