Year 9 at Marymount College

At Marymount College, we are fortunate to be able to offer a wide range of subjects and combinations of subjects that should satisfy the vast majority of families.

There are many important decisions you have to make while at school. Some of the most important are concerned with the choice of subjects to take in Years 9 and 10 and later the selection of subjects for Years 11 and 12. These are important decisions since they may affect your career path. Your course selections can also directly affect your success at school and how you feel about school.

Curriculum

Our Curriculum is designed to provide a broad, flexible and developmental subject offering to meet the students’ core academic needs, provide an extension for more able students, and allow access to a wide elective offering to meet the diverse interests of individual students.

We teach the foundational knowledge for all students in Religious Education, English, History, Mathematics and Science for VET Pathways and Tertiary Pathways in the Senior Secondary Years. Through the elective subjects, we provide foundations in other discipline areas as well.

Our philosophy is informed by the Learning Framework, Catholic Education, and Archdiocese of Brisbane. The overarching goal is to develop reflective and self-directed learners who can shape and enrich our changing world as Catholic Christians now, and in their lives beyond school. The curriculum is in line with the Australian Curriculum.

Please read the information carefully and never be hesitant about asking for help from our staff. They have many years of experience in these matters and are only too happy to be of assistance.
