English and Math - Gifted and Talented Program
At Marymount College, we recognise that giftedness and talent can be expressed across intellectual, creative, physical, social and spiritual domains. Our approach is grounded in Brisbane Catholic Education frameworks and our commitment to nurturing the whole person.
Through our academic and extension programs, students are supported and extended to achieve their God-given potential. Learning is personalised, data-informed and responsive, ensuring students are challenged at the appropriate level and provided with opportunities for deep thinking and growth.
Our approach is underpinned by the Marymount Model of Pedagogy, which emphasises clear learning intentions, targeted feedback and high expectations for every learner.
Students in our gifted and talented program benefit from:
- Differentiated and extended learning within the English and Math classrooms
- Flexible grouping with like-minded peers
- Enrichment opportunities such as academic competitions, STEM initiatives and co-curricular programs
- A strong focus on wellbeing, ensuring students develop socially, emotionally and spiritually
To ensure that our teachers are effective, teachers engage in professional development in gifted and talented education through the University of NSW. Through this training, teachers read and discuss current research, create collaborative resources that extend and challenge, watch each other in the practice of teaching, and evaluate and reflect on their learning.
Marymount College is committed to providing opportunities for academic excellence, supporting a diverse range of gifted learners, and fostering a culture where every student is encouraged to grow, excel and contribute to our college community.
