Marymount College is pleased to offer​ students in Years 7 – 12 the opportunity to continue their education in Music or to begin learning from the basics. The College engages working professional musicians and teachers who cater for differentiated learning based on individual student needs and interests.

Tuition

Programs include Voice, Piano and Keyboard, Guitar, Woodwind, Brass, Percussion, and theory. Examinations are offered through the Australian Music Examinations Board (Classical, Contemporary, and Theory), Guild, Trinity College Rock School, and Trinity College for Voice. Instrumental teachers are also able to devise programs with individualised learning goals without students sitting formal exams.

​​Ensembles

Group rehearsal and performance offer students a unique way in which to consolidate and refine their individual technique, as well as develop group music skills, performance and stage etiquette, non-verbal communication, creativity, and problem-solving skills, all in a structured, enjoyable setting. Ensembles offered at the College in 2024:
  • Stage Band
  • Vocal Ensemble​
  • Rock Bands (split into year levels)
  • Funk Band (for senior/experienced students via audition)
  • String Ensemble

Bursaries (College students only)

The College Music Department bursary recognises students’ prior musical achievements and experiences, exemplary attitudes, and demonstration to be an active contributor to the College’s Music Department, whereby giving back to the community. Consistent practising at home, all rehearsal and performance attendance, and exemplary attitude and behaviour are expectations of successful applicants. Full or half bursaries are awarded at the discretion of the College.

The Full Bursary covers the cost of p​rivate lesson tuition on one instrument for the remainder of the current year.

The Half Bursary covers half of the cost of private lesson tuition on one instrument for the remainder of the current year.

Please note that the bursary does not cover th​e cost associated with ensemble involvement.

Bursaries are active for the current year only. Previous applicants ne​ed to reapply each year.
