2019 was a busy year for Rugby at Marymount, with numerous competitions and formats across the year. In an exciting development, Marymount was invited into the inaugural ‘Rugby Super 6 Schools Cup’ where our under 15 boys would play against 5 other schools for the title. Additionally, we also had our 7s season, which allows both boys and girls to represent our College on the rugby field.

Super School Cup

Coached by Mr Rezo, Mr Hurley, Mr Frazer and Mr Hamilton, our Under 15 Boys had an incredible first season of rugby in this marquee event. The Boys went through the season undefeated, beating Miami SHS, Merrimac SHS, Helensvale SHS, Hillcrest and Ormeau Woods. This gave our boys a Grand Final berth, where they would take on Helensvale. In a match in which they gave away a lot of size, the boys were super impressive and courageous in a match which they, unfortunately, lost by less than 7 points. It was a highly enjoyable season for all involved, including the coaching staff, players, parents and teachers.  Upon seasons end, the following accolades were awarded:
Best Forward: Mydas McBurney
Best Back: Henry Mellick
Most Valuable Player: Max Robertson

All Schools and Q7s Tournaments

This year we once again were represented well at both the Q7s and All Schools 7s tournaments. Marymount continues to go from strength to strength in terms of performances and numbers participating. Results this year were mixed, with many good wins from our teams and some tough losses from which we learned a lot. Many thanks to the 7s coaches for all their work this season, Mr Hurley, Mrs Smith, Ms Richardson, Mr Ward and Mr Hamilton.

Queensland Representatives

A huge congratulations to Max Robertson and Zach Wren who were both selected this season for the Queensland Under 15 Rugby Union Team. The boys qualified thorough strong performances for their clubs, their school and through the regional and district pathways. We are all very proud of your achievements.
